LEXUS SAFETY SYSTEM+³

The Lexus ES features Lexus Safety System, the most advanced driver assist and safety technologies in an ES yet.

The Pre-collision System has been upgraded to include Intersection Right/Left Turn Assistance and the Adaptive High-Beam System (AHS) system with BladeScanTM technology is available on the F Sport and Sports Luxury grades.

ROAD SIGN ASSIST (RSA)

ROAD SIGN ASSIST (RSA)

Road Sign Assist (RSA; Speed Signs Only) utilises the front camera to detect regulatory speed signs, and displays them on the multi-information and head-up displays. Colours on the displays are inverted when the driver has exceeded the speed limit. RSA (Speed Signs Only) works in conjunction with the Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (DRCC) by allowing the driver to instantly switch cruise set speed up or down when entering a new speed zone, all from the conveniently located steering wheel switches.3

LANE TRACE ASSIST (LTA) AND LANE DEPARTURE ALERT (LDA)

LANE TRACE ASSIST (LTA) AND LANE DEPARTURE ALERT (LDA)

When driving on highways, freeways and on roads with white or yellow edge lines, Lane Departure Alert is designed to alert the driver of possible lane or road deviations. When possible deviation is detected, it displays a caution and prompts steering input from the driver. When Dynamic Radar Cruise Control is in use, Lane Tracing Assist can also help to keep the vehicle in the centre of the lane with smooth and steady movements, and tracks the preceding vehicle, even if it is difficult to detect the lane's edge lines.3

ADAPTIVE HIGH-BEAM SYSTEM (AHS)

ADAPTIVE HIGH-BEAM SYSTEM (AHS)

The Adaptive High-Beam System (AHS) system with BladeScanTM technology is available on the F Sport and Sports Luxury grades. It is designed to detect the headlamps of oncoming vehicles, tail lamps of preceding vehicles, and brightness of the surrounding area. If the system detects a vehicle within the area illuminated by the high beams, it is designed to disable or enable 24 LEDs on each side to minutely adjust lit and unlit areas, optimising light distribution. By partially blocking light from the high-beam headlamps so they don’t directly project onto a preceding or oncoming vehicle, the system helps contribute to safe driving at night.3

DYNAMIC RADAR CRUISE CONTROL (DRCC)

DYNAMIC RADAR CRUISE CONTROL (DRCC)

In addition to maintaining a constant speed, Dynamic Radar Cruise Control uses the radar and camera sensors to detect a vehicle driving ahead and is designed to maintain an appropriate distance between vehicles. The millimeter wave radar sensor provides a wide detection angle, resulting in enhanced forward detection capability. DRCC means the vehicle is also capable of low speed stop-start driving at speeds between 0 and approximately 30km/hr - reducing the burden on the driver who may be navigating congested traffic.3

Blind Spot Monitor (BSM)

Blind Spot Monitor (BSM)

When the rear bumper radars detect vehicles in adjacent lanes not visible in the door mirrors, the system activates an LED warning indicator in the relevant door mirror when a vehicle enters this blind spot, supporting the driver to check for safety when changing lanes.3

Pre-Collision System with Emergency Steering Assist

Pre-Collision System with Emergency Steering Assist

The Pre-Collision System (PCS) is designed to take action when a frontal collision is detected, and for the first time features daytime/night-time pedestrian detection plus daytime cyclist detection. If the hazard is deemed too close, the PCS is designed to activate, applying a large amount of pressure to help you stop sooner and minimise any damage.

The PCS now includes Intersection Right/Left Turn Assistance and Emergency Steering Assist (ESA) features - designed to prevent collisions with oncoming vehicles or pedestrians whilst turning, or if the driver performs an evasive manoeuvre.3

PARKING SUPPORT BRAKE (PKSB)

PARKING SUPPORT BRAKE (PKSB)

Using intelligent clearance sonars (ICS) and Blind Spot Monitor (BSM), you are provided with a comprehensive support system designed to help mitigate collisions that commonly occur during parking manoeuvres.

ICS and Rear Camera Detection are designed to detect when a collision with a stationary object is imminent, alerting you to take action. If action is not taken in time, the PKSB system is designed to reduce drive force and apply brake force to mitigate a collision.3

Panoramic View Monitor (PVM)

Panoramic View Monitor (PVM)

To help check areas surrounding the vehicle that are difficult to see from the driver's seat, the system shows a bird's-eye view of the vehicle in real time on the 12.3-inch multimedia display, using a composite image taken by cameras mounted on the front, sides, and rear of the vehicle.  Available on the F Sport and Sports Luxury grades.3
