A key aim for the interior of Lexus models is to create a human-orientated cockpit where the driver can immediately and intuitively understand all the functions and their operation.
To achieve this, designers seek to adapt the machine to the driver, rather than the driver having to adapt to the machine.
The dash and centre console are clearly divided into ‘Display’ and ‘Operation’ zones with the Operation zone centred around the Lexus Remote Touch controller.
The driver can operate the vehicle’s controls intuitively with a natural posture and minimal movement of their body and eyes, almost as if they can control their vehicle with a sixth sense.
This ‘human orientated design’ is a fundamental philosophy of L finesse – Lexus’ design language.
Also known as Human Orientated Design and Ergonomics. See also ‘L finesse’ and ‘Lexus Remote Touch (LRT)’.
